A Toronto based consignor who purchased the bottles at the Quintarelli Winery in the 1990s while on an annual trip to Italy with his wife. During the tasting at the winery Giuseppe Qunitarelli joined them and explained the history of the Winery and the meticulous care taken to produce his Amarone Riserva. They purchased two bottles of the 1988 and two of the 1990 and enjoyed one of each on their 25th anniversary. His wife passed away before their 50th and he feels now is the time to pass these special bottles on to someone else to enjoy. They were carefully shipped back to Canada and were stored in a commercial grade wine fridge since then.
The tasting note for 1990 Giuseppe Quintarelli Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Superior Riserva is from Wine Spectator and the score is 90 - Fresh for a 1990 with raisin berry and wet earth character. Medium-bodied and off-dry with medium tannins and a sweet fruit aftertaste. Lovely wine for current drinking. Only 205 cases made. VERY RARE!
