This collection has come from a long line of seasoned wine enthusiasts, cellared under temperature and humidity control in an estate North of Toronto. A shift in preferences has lead them to liquidate some of their cellar, and we are fortunate to be able to offer these bottles at IronGate.Wine.
The score for1997 Domaine Patrick Baudouin Cuvee Maria Juby Coteaux du Layon is 97 from Robert Parker and this is the tasting note -The syrupy 1997 Coteaux du Layon Maria Juby Grains Nobles is unbelievably fat and dense. It offers viscous waves of hyper-ripe quince, apricots, and raspberries that ooze across the palate and linger in the taster's mouth for what seems an eternity. It appears to have good balance, yet remains heavy. This wine is in the viscous "sugar hunter" style, hence the asterisk. It is simply too thick, oily, and powerful to be served with food. Readers interested in tasting the essence of Chenin should try sipping it after a meal, in lieu of dessert. As there is no basis to judge the ageworthiness of offerings made in this style (this is a new phenomenon),
