This prestigious collection comes to Iron Gate from a revered connoisseur and long-time wine collector. Lover of American wines, he spent many years sourcing them from some of the USA's finest properties and had them stored professionally at 55 Degrees in Napa Valley. Recognizing his cellar had grown far beyond what he could reasonably consume, he's brought the wines to auction to share with fellow enthusiasts.
The score for 2007 Domaine St Prefert Collection Charles Giraud Chateauneuf du Pape is 100 points from Robert Parker and the tasting note - The utterly profound 2007 Châteauneuf du Pape Collection Charles Giraud (60% Grenache and 40% Mourvèdre) offers up a smorgasbord of roasted meats, black currants, smoked garrigue, graphite and licorice. Utterly perfect on the palate, with a massive, broad, expansive texture that just won’t quit, it has a stacked mid-palate, loads of sweet fruit and a heavenly finish. Châteauneuf du Pape doesn’t get any better! The score for 2007 Domaine St Prefert Reserve Auguste Favier Chateauneuf du Pape is 96 points from Robert Parker and the tasting note - Also rock-star stuff, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve Auguste Favier gives up plenty of sweet blackberry, sugar cured meats, licorice, toasted spice and butcher shop-like aromas and flavors to go with a full-bodied, sweetly-fruited, fabulously dense and layered palate. As with the Colombis, it’s a big, rich wine that stays fresh and pure.
