Prior to starting his collection this consignor was a chef and learned a lot about wine and its ability to enhance the dining experience from some of the sommeliers he worked with. He trained in classical French and Italian cuisine and much of his collection consists of California Cabernets and full- bodied Italian wine to pair with meat-centric dishes. He purchased hi wine from the LCBO and larger Ontario agencies and it was always stored in a temperature-controlled cellar.
Producer notes- Jim Barbour was raised on his family’s ranch in Rutherford where he learned the life of farming, a passion for land, and the understanding that hard work breeds success. After graduating from the University of California-Davis, Jim returned to Napa Valley to begin a career that would lead him to become one of Napa Valley’s most sought-after viticulturalists. For over 30 years, he has been dedicated to his craft, producing premium wine grapes using traditional and contemporary hand-farming methods. Jim has planted and managed many prominent vineyards in the valley, including Hundred Acre, Grace Family, Blankiet, Revana, Cain, Pride, Keever, Husic, Gandona, Pillar Rock, DR Stephens, and more. in 1992, he planted his own vineyard and in 1995 produced just 50 cases of his first vintage of his eponymous Barbour Cabernet Sauvignon. Barbour is an estate wine handmade by Celia Welch and produced from dry-farmed and sustainably grown grapes from Barbour Vineyard.
